Walmart is thee best place for off the wall snacks. There are the newest and weirdest flavors of different goods you can get. OH MAN, I have so many in my arsenal now and so many I plan on going back to purchase.
Well let me start with this one: French Toast flavored Goldfish Grahams. First of all, I am not opposed to Goldfish going the sweet route. I am used to the cheddar flavored and all the weirdo “Xplosian” kinds. Pepperidge Farm Goldfish has put out some sweeter flavors that I do not love but don’t hate like s’mores, cupcake, and vanilla. However, this one, French Toast, sounded interesting.
How could a small fish shaped graham taste like a piece of french toast? French toast has such a dynamic flavor, egg, bread, creamy, and mapley. Can all those flavors be conveyed in a fish?
When I opened up the bag, I definitely smelled a maple-cinnamon syrup. It actually felt like a small wind of maple coming at me. With that, I thought that I would get some kicking flavor here. Did I? Let me say, that this was a huge HUGE disappointment. There was a powder over the graham that sort of tasted like maple-cinnamon syrup, but the graham itself overpowered the maple. Plus, the maple dust tasted more like plain flour than anything, not even sugary. Lame. Lame. Lame.
I was pretty let down by this. I think it was a waste of taste bud time and stomach space.
The round up:
Would I buy it again? NO
Have I totally lost faith in Pepperidge Farm Goldfish? Nah, but I appreciate their efforts to experiement. Keep it coming.
