Growing up, my family only went to a couple of fast food restaurants: The McDiddios, KFC, Hardees, and Wendy’s. We never really went to other places around and not around my neighborhood, but more interestingly never to Taco Bell. My parents grew up in California where the Tex Mex and more authentic Latin flavors exist, so maybe the reason why we never went to Taco Hell is because they were used to the real deal Mexican cuisine. I really don’t know.
What I do know is that one day back in the late 80s, a Taco Bell Express inserted itself into the gas station a couple blocks away. This distance was just close enough for me to walk to as a tweensta with $1.57 rattling in my pocket for a soft taco and a purple pop. This was my first experience in Taco Hell and it was not a bad one. I actually liked it. From then on, I was open to the joint, but not really in love.
Now, that I am in my “adult” years able to make decisions to drive my lazy ass everywhere with my lazy assless cookingless skillzzz, I can haul it to Taco Hell whenever I want. Wow, that’s real freedom people, REAL FREEDOM.
Enter Quesarito. Enter my American adultness. I ordered it. I ate it. I had thoughts, FREE thoughts, MY thoughts.
The quesarito was appealing to me because there was cilantro rice (never bad, IMO), a meat, a quesadia wrapped around the precious rice/meat combo. Protect that rice. Protect that meat.
I bit into that thing. I like chewy and gooey things. Yeah, I said it. However, this thing stopped me in my running thoughts. HHHYYYUUUCK! IT was too saucy for me. First of all, sour cream is a never, a gross, a gag even an inch away from my face. I had no idea that SC was in it.
I just could not do anymore. Strike ONE and you are out. This thing made me sick.
The thought of a quesarito is genius. Lots of other people and palates would enjoy this product, but not me! No thanks especially with steak. I do not trust Taco Hell with steak anymore. I highly recommend sticking to chicken or beef for any menu item. Sorry T.Bell, your cantina burrito is great, but FAIL on the Quesarito. Leave that one to Chipotle. Don’t worry though, I will still try your fun, new and recycled ideas.
Better luck next time.
The Round up:
Did I eat the whole thing? NO
Would I buy it again? NO
Would I recommend it? Depends on who you are, but no!
Did I get sick? For 2 days
