Pringles Tortilla Chips: Worth the duck lips anymore?
Confession: I am one who falls for some advertisements. Some icons or logos catch my eye. I am also guilty of eating and buying products that I think are cute or interesting. The Pringles guy is one of them. It also helped that Pringles tastes good (ALL of the original flavors are good in my opinion) and they are usually under $2. Wonderful. The “3 little bears status” they have at gas stations, ya know, the small sized, medium sized and regular sized canisters (that are all the same price for some dumb reason), is cool though. Sometimes a whole can is too much.
However, when I saw the newer tortilla Pringles, I was not excited. I kind of cocked my head and did not know what to think. Why try to change a good thing? Everyone needs to try something new I guess.
Let’s get into it.
I was at… where?… Wa- wa- WALMART! Snack isle, doi. Amongst the many flavors, I randomly narrowed it down to a sweet and a savory flavor for good measure. Where to begin?
The sweet: Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Pringles were interesting. First bite, I had to let the flavor sit in my mouth for a while. Yeah. Ok. Yeah. Ok. The sweetness really bought out the saltiness which is a plus in my books. I could actually taste the corn in the tortilla-ness as well. This threw me off because I am used to a thin potato taste with Pringles. The overall taste was pretty good. I slowly ate more and more. This was a quite possibly a finisher.
The savory: Salsa Tortilla Pringles were super fragrant when I opened the can. A wind of red salsa flew up that I almost sneezed. I was not mad though. Sneezing is kind of fun #IamWeird #NoAllergies. At first bite, there was not as much flavor as I thought. Compared to the smell, there was a real lack of flavor. Plus most of the powder got on my fingers. The taste was as expected though, a bit more tomato-y than taco/salsa-y which did not bother me. It tasted alright. I wanted more flavor though. I prefer actual salsa especially green salsa over salsa-flavored things in general.
The round up:
Would I buy it again? No, I would rather get the OG potato Pringles
Did I finish? Cinnamon/Sug – Yes! Salsa – Yeah, but took me a while.
Would I recommend it? Cinnamon/Sug would be a good holiday chip at a party or something. I don’t think that people would like Salsa Pringles with all the other types of chips. Plus you can get real salsa.
Rating: Cinn/Sug – 6, Salsa – 3
