Amy’s “INDIAN” Mattar Paneer
Oh Indian food. I am trying, I really am. For some reason, I am in the mood to give you another round around the block. Now, I know that Amy’s is probably not the exact route to take when trying authentic Indian cuisine, but she is cheap and she is trying just… like… ME. Plus, I have been in the mood for some spice.
First of all, spices mixed together like Curry, Cumin, Tumeric, Cinnamon and Masala are what I like to call ‘ping-pong’ flavors. When you put them in your mouth they are not simple and don’t just go down easy. They bounce around in the front then hit you in the back. (TMI? Whatever) Especially curries, they remind me (my taste buds) of sand in a good way; as opposed to say like Japanese cuisine that is simpler and goes down smoothly. Make sense? Anyway.
This meal is probably a joke to the real stuff, but I thought it was decent. I liked the cook on the 3 different parts: seasoned Basmati rice, curried peas with palaak, and Chana Masala. I think the only real difference between the Peas and Masala was that the peas were more peppery giving it a little heat. Other wise this was not bad at all. I enjoyed the rice actually. 🙂
It was better than any Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice. It was $3.99 at Target.
The Round up:
Did I finish it? Yes
Would I buy it again? Sure
