Guys! If you can believe it, I LOVE veggies. I love most vegetables as long as they are cooked right. With my Crohn’s and Autoimmune disorders, my old woman body can only handle REALLY cooked foods. In other words, I am pretty much a grandma or a new born baby. Don’t mattaaaa though because I like stewed and fall off the bone stuff. It actually soothes my soul. Cauliflower and carrots and broccoli and cabbage needs to be absolutely cooked to death. Believe me I am carb lover lover. Props to people who can do gluten free or paleo, but NOT ME! I NEEDS ME SOME REAL RICE, ReAL TATERS, REAL NOODLES.
Once in awhile, I am adventurous and try different things. Enter, Cauliflower tater tots. I am still a little hesitant on the whole cauliflower substitute for rice, but I am curious.
[Enter Green Giant Cauliflower tater tots.]
Me: ‘Ok, hi there Green Giant. If you are going to switch up my precious potatoes, then your “CauliTOTs” better make me as “jolly” and “giant” as YOU! Bring it.’
Me: [throws tots on tray and in the oven]
[Enter: cauliTOTSs “float” out of the oven like pillows]
Let me tell you. They were actually nice and crispy despite their appearance. When you bite into it, it is REALLY creamy almost like mashed potatoes. There is a little teeny bit of salt and pepper. You can really taste the bark of the cauliflower though. The bits of the stems that are inside the tots are a little off to me, but they taste good. The stems bring out the cauliflower taste. Otherwise it tastes like a fried mash potato-ey tot.
I liked it. I liked it a lot more than I thought.
Yes, I did buy it again.
