This review is dedicated to the original owner of this blog, my 1/2 Burmese cousin living in Ireland with her Irish husband. I visited them when I went on my European tour. My cousin made me an Irish breakfast with sausage and potatoes. Of course, it kicks ass because she is a bomb-ass cook! Unfortunately, I didn’t get to have any other traditional Irish fair.
What the hell, let’s impulsively try the frozen Blake’s Shepard’s Pie. I am going to be honest, I am not a fan of casseroles and not a fan of mashed potatoes. But… Let’s get out the comfort zone!
My thoughts before are that this will be bland and boring and blah and a waste of money… and possibly full of salt… Nobody I know raves or craves Irish or British food. (Fried fish and chips are good though)
Let’s put on our big girl pants and pretend we are in a Pub.
The serving is way smaller than I thought (which is a good thing).
Well, to be honest, this product is not very flavorful. The ground beef is bland and dry. The corn was the only semi interesting flavor. The mashed potatoes were dry and tasted mealy. This whole thing could use some gravy or a sauce to help the flavor and texture.
Blake’s is what you would expect. I think putting mashed potatoes, corn, some protein all layered up in some fashion is funny to me. KFC does it in their bowl, different pot pies, tater tot casserole… in any order, they are alll the SAME!!! (aaaahhhhhhhh communism! j/k)
For the price of this “Specialty” “Made from Scratch” “All Natural…” product, NOT WORTH IT!
HEY COUSIN! Help me to find some good Irish dishes!!! 🙂 (dm me frrreal)
Would I recommend? NO
