I was damn sure excited about this flavour profile when I scooped these up a few weeks ago.
I love rice crackers and really any crispy rice based snack. I also love Indian flavours and have enjoyed other masala flavoured crisps (which I will post about later, I promise).
So, how did they measure up?
Texture wise, they’re not really that different from regular Pringles, given that they already use a reconstituted dehydrated potato starch. These just cut that with that rice starch, which works but just isn’t that noticeablely different.
The flavour though, mmm! They’re totally delicious. More fragrant curry spices than chicken and with a touch of the creaminess of a chicken tikka masala as well. That said, and having read through the spice list I’m not quite sure why, the flavour profile to me was more Thai curry than Indian. This makes 0 difference in terms of how inclined I am to eat them, but it does feel like they slightly missed their mark.
For reference, here’s the spice list: Coriander Seeds, Ground Ginger, Cumin, Cayenne Pepper, Turmeric, Ground Cinnamon, Cloves, Ground Fenugreek Seeds, Cardamom, Black Pepper (all of which are often used in Indian cuisine)
And they’ve also included Onion Powder, Dextrose, Tomato Powder, Garlic Powder, and Cream Powder for good measure.
Would I buy again? Yes, but only sparingly because I’m inclined to eat the whole thing in one sitting.
Would I recommend them? Obvi
Are the flavours authentic? Idk, I mean can anything about Pringles be authentic? But they taste good.
